Market Place [80th day]

I went shopping in a shopping mall called Market Place today. It's a little far from the campus, 30 minutes away by bus. I went there to buy clothes and shoes to prepare for a freezing winter. Market Place is a typical market mall in terms of sizes and shops. It is as large as a typical AEON mall but has much fewer shops, around 20 shops. I went to H&M and bought some foodies, sox, and groves. That H&M was almost the same as one in Japan, but clothes sold there seemed a little bit cheaper.

Then I visited a shoes store to buy snow boots. The shop was huge and has many shoes. I was astonished by the shoes' prices. They were very cheap compared to in Japan. Typical sneakers are sold for $30-60. They are not made by unpopular companies but popular bid companies like Nike, Adidas, or Levis. Maybe they can be sold cheaply because they're American companies, and they can sell their products in their direct shop, not necessarily through retail shops. But I'm not sure of the true reason. Anyway, I'm so happy that I could buy winter boots and training shoes for a very good price :)

こんばんは。今日ふと頭に思い浮かんだ事があります。「靴が壊れる」という表現、違和感を覚えませんか。シャツ、ズボン、靴下が着れなくなることを「壊れる」とはあまり表現しないのに、靴には「壊れる」という言葉をよく使いますよね。また、「壊れる」という言葉のイメージに靴があまり合わない感じがするのです。スマホが壊れる、家が壊れる、道が壊れる、というのはしっくりくるのですが、靴が壊れるというのはどうもしっくりこない。同じ道具なのに、、、。なぜ「靴が壊れる」という表現に違和感を覚えるのか、理由を思いついた方はぜひ教えてください。違和感を覚えているのが僕だけかもしれませんが、僕も私も「靴が壊れる」にしっくりこないよ！という方がいれば連絡ください。ではこんな話で今日は終わりです。Have a great day!
