Ate Japanese food [15th day]
Hello. I'm Illinois Panda.
I went to a Japanese restaurant on campus called Sushi Ichiban with Indian friends I met last Sunday. It was my first time going to Japanese restaurants in the U.S., though I had an experience visiting Ichiran in Australia. The ramen I ate in Australia was not good, but hopefully tastes so-so. That's why I didn't expect to Japanese restaurants abroad. However, because I’m still interested in them and Indian friends invited me, so I went to the restaurant to investigate today. The restaurant is a sushi restaurant but is probably not run by a Japanese owner. The reason I think so is that it does have a lot of food I don't have any idea about like this.
It has sushi, ramen, Japanese curry, and other Japanese food, but it also has strange food such as asparagus roll, peanuts avocado roll, or spicy super white tuna roll. We chose something as Japanese as possible and had Japanese chicken curry, Tuna roll, Futomaki roll, tonkotsu ramen, and lamune (Japanese soda). They are better than I thought. I don't say they're the same as the one we have in Japan, but I can say they're similar. For example, tonkostu ramen tastes light and spicy but if I eat it without seeing it, I'd say it's tonkotsu ramen. After all, they're at the level I call kind of Japanese food. I'm sorry I sounded so superior just because I'm Japanese.
上記の通りお昼に日本食を食べたのですが、実は夜も"日本食"に挑戦してみました。これです。
インスタントのうどんですね。発泡スチロールの容器の中にソフト麺とかやくとスープの素が入っていました。容器に麺とかやくと水を入れて電子レンジで2分温めて完成です。肝心の味はというと......すごく美味しくなかったです。これは僕の下に合わなかっただけかもしれませんが、麺がネチっとしていて、味も薄口醤油をさらに薄めた感じのものであり、いわゆるうどんではありませんでした。これからもめげずに、アメリカンな日本食に挑戦しレビューしていきます。いつかは美味しい日本食を見つけてみせます。
