I live my life, not your life.

Weekly Conversation [25th day]

Hi. It's Illinois Panda.

I belong to a club called English Corner. It's composed of several Americans and many international students who learn English as a second language. It aims to give us experiences of American life and opportunities for speaking English. It provides weekly meetings, conversation sections every weekday, and special events twice a month. Today, I participated in a conversation group. In the afternoon, the president, a  middle-aged American, and five international students, including me, assembled at a table near a coffee shop and had a conversation for a little more than one hour. What was particularly interesting was the conversation theme. It is "What is the origin of this universe? How did the world start?" It may seem to you that it's a typical problem. But have you thought of this question and make expressions in English? Or have you exchange opinions with those who have different religions, experiences, and backgrounds. This is an interesting point. If you try to deliberate such an abstract problem and express your thoughts in English, you will find it challenging. If you listen to people who believe in what you don't believe in, you would get to know to align,  unfamiliar attitudes and feel sort of strange. It's an authentic cultural interaction, and it was delightful.

1時間くらい話し合ったのですが、他の人と自分の英語力に差をかなり感じました。よくない意味で。かなり良い刺激になったので、来週以降も参戦しようと思います。ちなみに来週のトピックは"Who started thinking what is right or wrong?" です。これまた掘りがいのありそうな質問ですね。楽しみです。ではまた。おやすみなさい。Have a good night!
